The Central Region

Famous for its palm fringed beaches, fascinating fishing villages, rich natural attractions, colourful festivals (Fetu Afahye, Bakatue,Aboakyir and the Wineba masquerade festival). Its forts and castles have been declared world heritage monuments by Unesco. Cape Coast, its capital was the seat of colonial governance until 1877. It also is the cradle of education with several first class schools and a University

  • Slave Dungeons in Cape Coast & Elmina Castles & Fort St Jago
  • Kakum National Park: This amazing undisturbed virgin forest covers an
    area of 351km. Some of its features are, a suspended canopy walkway,
    medicinal plants, rare birds, game, wildlife (including the
    extraordinary bongo and forest elephants). Walking tours are provided
  • The beaches of the Central Region: Cape Coast beach, Brenu beach,
    Elmina beach, white sands beach Gomoa Fetteh . Sample some fresh
    lobsters here.
  • Twin fishing villages of Kromantse and Abandze
